Routine Services

Cleanings:

Regular teeth cleaning by a dental professional is recommended to remove tarter that may develop even with careful brushing and flossing, especially in areas that are difficult for a patient to reach on his /her own. Professional cleaning includes tooth scaling, tooth polishing, and debridement if necessary. We also offer Nitrous Oxide to ease any dental anxiety.

Check-ups:

Good oral hygiene is essential for preventing cavities, tartar build-up, and gum disease. Dentists recommend having teeth professionally cleaned twice a year and routine x-rays annually.

Fillings / Sealants:

Dental fillings are the material that "fills" the spaces in your teeth left by tooth decay to restore teeth. A dental filling is also used to repair cracks and broken areas in your teeth, and to repair areas that have been worn down. Sealants are a clear or white plastic material placed in the grooves of the biting surfaces of back teeth. Back teeth have deep grooves and pits that are very difficult to keep clean. Plaque, which is a nearly invisible film of bacteria and food, collects in these grooves.

Crowns & Bridges:

A crown is a type of dental restoration which completely caps or encircles a tooth or dental implant and is typically bonded to the tooth using dental cement. Crowns can be made from many materials which are usually fabricated using indirect methods. Crowns are often used to improve the strength or appearance of teeth. A bridge, also known as a fixed partial denture, is used to replace a missing tooth by joining permanently adjacent teeth or dental implants. There are different types of bridges depending on how they are fabricated and the way they anchor to the adjacent teeth. Conventionally, bridges are made using the indirect method of restoration.

Dentures & Partials:

Dentures are prosthetic devices constructed to replace missing teeth. They are supported by surrounding soft and hard tissue of the oral cavity. A removable partial dentures is for a edentulous patient who desires to have replacement teeth for functional or aesthetic reasons, cannot have a bridge for any number of reasons, including a lack of required teeth to serve as support for a bridge (i.e. distal abutments) or including financial limitations.

Periodontal Treatment:

The treatment of periodontal disease begins with the removal of tartar. This is commonly addressed by the surgical procedures known as root planning and scaling. These procedures debride calculus by mechanically scraping it from the tooth surfaces.

Tartar is comprised almost entirely of calcium phosphate salt, the ionic derivative of calcium phosphate (the primary composition of teeth and bone). Clinically, tartar stuck to teeth appears to be hardened to the point of requiring mechanical scraping for removal.
